About the Artist
Janice resides in DeSoto County, Mississippi. She has been painting for about 10 years. She paints a variety of subjects in oil, pastels, and watercolors. Janice is basically a self-taught artist; however, she studied with several accomplished artists including noted Little Rock, AR, watercolorist, designer, and instructor, Vicki Kovaleski. Janice is an active member of the DeSoto Arts Council (Hernando, MS), Olive Branch Arts Council (Olive Branch, MS), Artist Network of North Mississippi, and Brooks Art Gallery.
In 2004, her painting “Mississippi Magnolia” received a Merit Award in the First Street Gallery Fine arts Competition, Grenada, MS. In 2005, the Community Foundation of Northwest Mississippi, Hernando, MS, selected her “Mississippi Magnolia: to serve as its signature painting for the 2005 Crystal Ball theme, “My Mississippi.” In 2006, she received the “Viewers Choice Award” at the Celebration of Art sponsored by the Hernando (MS) Women’s Club. Her art is in homes and businesses throughout the Memphis (TN) area and Northern Mississippi.
